Marcie Hutchinson, a Mesa teacher, a Mesa parent and public education advocate is running for election to the Mesa Public Schools Governing Board.
As a 38-year public school educator, I celebrate the importance of public education to our community. By ensuring a quality education for all students, Mesa schools will continue to graduate confident, informed, productive and engaged young women and men who will contribute their skills and talents to our community, our state and our nation.
I believe in the power of education. Education gives us:
Dignity: to acquire knowledge and skills and become all we are capable of being.
Freedom: to seize opportunities and lead more fulfilling lives.
Power: to be civic-minded; impacting and improving our community.
If elected, I will serve as a governing board member that fights for every student's right to receive a quality public education. I will use my 31 years of experience as a classroom teacher and 7 years as an Arizona State University faculty member to strengthen the connection between what is needed in the classroom and the elected board which guides policy, curriculum, budget and other key issues.
Education is not a cost, it's an investment; an investment in our economy, our democracy, and in each other.
Our strong legacy will lead us to a bright future.
